A female student at West Springfield High School was reportedly followed home on Monday night.
According to a message sent to West Springfield High School parents, the student left an afterschool activity shortly after 8 p.m. Monday.
"As she was driving home, she reports that was followed by an unknown male subject at the intersection of Old Keene Mill Road and Bauer Drive. When she parked in front of her house, the subject approached her; the student then ran to the front door of her home. The subject ran back to his car and quickly drove away," the message stated.
A Fairfax CEAN notification indicated the man told the student he had a flat tire.
The man was described as an Asian man in his late 20's or early 30's with short black hair. He weighed approximately 150 lbs. He was driving a dark-colored Mitsubishi or Subaru four-door car with a rear spoiler.
Police are still investigating and ask anyone with information to call Fairfax County police at 703-691-21231.
If you suspect you are being followed while driving, keep your doors and windows locked. Leave plenty of room between you and other vehicles so you can maneuver even if you are stopped at a red light, according to Road and Travel magazine. You may also call the police from your mobile phone for assistance, or drive to the nearest police station for safety.
