Braddock District Community Associations Win NEPP Awards

The three community groups will use the money for specific improvement projects in their neighborhood, such as reforesting the community property.

Three community associations from the Braddock District, which includes Burke, have won Neighborhood Enhancement awards from Fairfax County.

The Country Club View Civic Association, North Springfield Civic Association, and the Woodbury Woods Community Association all received monetary awards from the county’s Neighborhood Enhancement Partnership Program (NEPP) to go toward their community improvement projects.

According to Braddock District Supervisor John Cook’s Braddock Beacon for January 2013, the awards and amounts are as follows:

  • Country Club View Civic Association: $1,700 to involve younger residents in revitalizing the community.
  • North Springfield Civic Association: $2,500 to reforest community property inside the Express Lanes Sound Walls.
  • Woodbury Woods Community Association: $3,700 to reconstruct an asphalt path on common property land.

The Neighborhood Enhancement Partnership Program is “a competitive application process to enhance the quality of life in neighborhoods by supporting projects and initiatives that assist in achieving the county’s vision elements,” according to the program’s website.
