Connolly Seeks Entries for Annual High School Art Contest

Winners of the 11th Congressional District competition will have work displayed in the U.S. Capitol.

Calling all high school artists: Friday is the deadline for U.S. Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-11th)'s annual High School Art Contest, which offers local students a chance to have their art displayed in the U.S. Capitol.

All public, private and home-schooled high school students in Connolly's 11th Congressional District are eligible to enter artwork in the competition, "An Artistic Discovery."

Students can drop off their pieces at Connolly's Annandale or Prince William District Offices. All information, including the student entry and release form, must be completed by Friday.

“This annual contest provides a unique opportunity for young artists in Fairfax and Prince William to join with other students from across the nation to showcase their artistic creativity and talent,” Congressman Connolly said in a statement.

Connolly's office will select two winners: The top artist will have his or her work displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year. The runner up — the "rising star" – will have his or her work displayed at the Workhouse Arts Center’s McGuire Woods Gallery in Lorton.
