How Burke Voted in the GOP Primary

A precinct-by-precinct look at primary results for U.S. Senate and 11th Congressional District.

The total turnout was tiny, but Republican voters in Burke gave a large margin of support to former Virginia Gov. George Allen in Tuesday's primary for the state's open U.S. Senate seat, falling in line 

Allen, who will now face Tim Kaine (D) in November, also won Fairfax County with about 65.4 percent of the vote.

Fewer than 5.1 percent of active voters statewide cast ballots on Tuesday. In Fairfax County, the average was about 5.4 percent.

The turnout was only slightly higher than the state and county averages  for March's Republican Presidential Primary.

In the Republican primary for the 11th Congressional District,  defeated Herndon's  Vaughn won three Burke precincts, though - Lake Braddock (118), Burke (801) and White Oaks (833).

Perkins will face incumbent Gerry Connolly (D) in November.

Results for all races in all precincts are available on the State Board of Elections web site. From the June 12, 2012, links at the top:

  • Choose "My City/County" (the third tab).
  • Then choose your city or county from the drop-down menu, and click  'go'.
  • Under the details column, click on 'votes by precinct' (all the way on the right side).  Results are listed by precinct number.
