Lynbrook Elementary Receives Healthy School Award

Springfield school has won the award for 12 consecutive years.

Lynbrook Elementary School has done it again.  Last week for the 12th consecutive year, the Springfield school received the Healthy School Award from the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) and its partner Sodexo.

Lynbrook earned the award for having the largest number of students in the MCM sponsored Healthy Kids Fun Run, held each fall in Arlington.  In 2011 Lynbrook registered 300 students for the one-mile fun run.

"Since the Healthy Kids Fun Ran began, the teachers and parents of Lynbrook Elementary have taken an active role motivating their students to participate," said Angela Huff, deputy director of MCM. "The school serves as a model for school participation."
