Post 5471 Contributes to VFW Unmet Needs Fund

Assistance is provided to soldiers and their families faced with unexpected financial difficulties.

The Generals Douglas MacArthur/Vincente Lim Post #5471 hosted a Luau fundraiser to benefit the VFW Unmet Needs Program, which provides financial assistance to soldiers and their families faced with unexpected financial difficulties.

This greater Washington D.C. area post, comprised of about 130 members, is led by Springfield resident Jay Cabacar.  Many of its members have served in World War II, Vietnam, and the Korean wars.  In addition there are members currently serving in Afghanistan or have recently returned from service there and in Iraq.

Cabacar said Post #5471 is committed to recognizing the ongoing needs of the soldiers and their families, and working hard to provide a helping hand to both retired and active duty members.
