Update: Dog's Owner Found

Jake was found injured in Prince George's County and brought to Fairfax County.

The Fairfax County Animal Shelter has identified the owner of a Shiba Inu named Jake that was found running in traffic in Prince George’s County on Nov. 17. The dog was brought to Fairfax County by the woman who found him.  

The shelter was able to identify the owner after reaching out to the public . The nephew of Jake’s owner saw a television news report and contacted family who later contacted the Fairfax County Animal Shelter.

While at the shelter, Jake has been recovering from injuries sustained while he was lost. He underwent medically necessary surgery and The Friends of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter, a local, private non-profit organization, has offered a grant to help the owner cover Jake’s veterinary costs.

“Our staff works hard every day to reunite lost pets with their owners,” says Dr. Karen P. Diviney, director, Fairfax County Animal Shelter. “We are glad that there is a happy ending for Jake and his owner.”
