Burke, Springfield Residents Complete Boston Marathon

Seven residents completed the 26.2 mile course in the hottest race of the past 13 years.

Three Burke and four Springfield residents completed the 116th running of the Boston Marathon on Monday.

The Burke finishers and their results are:

  • Francis Esposito (M) - 58: Pace 0:10:48. Finised in 4:42:55
  • Erin Klein (F) - 24: Pace 0:08:07.  Finished in 3:32:27
  • David Lett (M) - 42: Pace 0:14:04. Finished in 6:08:31

The Springfield finishers and their results are:

  • Anne-Marie Adams (F) - 35: Pace 0:09:55. Finished in 4:19:43       
  • Bill Bernier (M) - 36: Pace 0:08:41. Finished in 3:47:24      
  • Torsten Biernat (M) - 29: Pace 0:07:24. Finished in 3:14:00            
  • William Moran (M) - 62: Pace 0:10:41. Finished 4:40:00     

The temperature reached 87 degrees, slowing the pace for many runners.

Springfield resident, and Wellesley College student Sarah participate in the Wellesely College Scream Tunnel on Monday, and provided photos. "[A]s anyone who has ever run the Boston Marathon can tell you, the major highlight aside from the finish line is the Wellesley Scream Tunnel, a little less than halfway through the 26.2-mile course," wrote Bob Brown in Alpha Doggs.

The women of Wellesley College line the route with signs and screams of encouragement ... and requests for kisses.
