FCPS Superintendent to Visit Burke, Springfield Schools

Superintendent Karen K. Garza wants to hear from parents, community members about Fairfax County Public school issues.

Parents, students, employees and community members are invited to share their thoughts and priorities for the Fairfax County schools with Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) Superintendent Karen K. Garza during her winter listening tour.

Garza will be visiting every magisterial district with Fairfax County School Board members to hear attendees’ concerns and questions about school issues, according to an FCPS news release. She also will ask meeting participants to provide their feedback to questions that will be used to develop a Portrait of a Graduate that will provide a framework for a long-range strategic plan for FCPS, the release further states.

Garza will stop by on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, Feb. 4 at 7 p.m.: Springfield District listening tour at West Springfield High School, 6100 Rolling Road, Springfield, with School Board member Elizabeth Schultz.
  • Monday, Feb. 24 at 6:30 p.m.: Braddock District listening tour at Lake Braddock Secondary School, 9200 Burke Lake Road, Burke, with School Board member Megan McLaughlin.
The winter dates are a continuation of Garza's fall tour, which started back in October. Between October and December, Garza visited elementary and middle schools in Mason, Sully, Mount Vernon, Providence, and Dranesville districts.

All residents interested in attending are asked to register online and indicate if an interpreter is needed.
