This will be Moon’s third time holding the position – he was elected chairman once in 2006 and again in 2012.

Moon served on the school board from 1995 to 1999 and again from 2004 to the present. He also served as vice-chairman in 2005 and 2011.

Moon has been active in other areas of county and state government as well, including the Fairfax County Planning Commission and the Governor’s Urban Policy Task Force. He is a partner at the law firm Moon, Park and Associates.

Kaufax was elected to the School Board in January 2012. She previously served as the chair of the Fairfax County Childcare Advisory Council.

The School Board has successfully found a new superintendent for Fairfax County Public Schools in Karen Garza. She was sworn in late last month and succeeds Jack Dale.
