LBSS Debate Team: State and National Winners

Lake Braddock's team won its second consecutive state title; senior Katelyn Sheehan wins national title.

The Debate Team defended its Virginia High School League (VHSL) AAA State Championship title recently in Lynchburg, Va.  It's the team's second state title in two years.

"Lake Braddock is the second Northern Virginia team to achieve back-to-back titles," said Debate and Speech Coach Duane Hyland.  "The first was Arlington's Yorktown High School in 2006 and 2007," he said. Hyland -- it so happens -- was Yorktown's coach at that time.

Senior Katelyn Sheehan was crowned the VHSL AAA State Champion in the Lincoln Douglas Debate, earning her second consecutive state championship.
