Local Students Perform with Boston String Quartet

Concert Saturday, November 12, at Schlesinger Performing Arts Center. Tickets available online and at the door.

More than 150 area high school students will join the critically acclaimed Boston String Quartet on November 12, in a performance called The Ethno-Urban Orchestra.  The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in Northern Virginia Community College’s Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall.

The Boston String Quartet's Ethno-Urban Orchestra program develops, encourages and enhances students’ musical gifts through pre-concert workshops, then provides a concert experience to showcase their abilities.

Since 2004, the Quartet has been a creative leader in contemporary classical music, performing their own arrangements of classical chamber music, rock, jazz and world music.

“We offer a distinctively different approach to classical music, and also enjoy retelling the story of modern music in a way that is fresh, engaging and entertaining," said Angel Valchiov, the group's First Violinist.

Students participating in Saturday's performance represent schools including , Bishop Ireton High School, , , and .

The Ethno-Urban Orchestra, as presented by the Boston String Quartet and area students, is open to the public. Tickets range from $20 - $36 and can be purchased online or at the door.
