This is an exciting week for W.T. Woodson High School.

This Friday, Sept. 20, will be the official ribbon-cutting ceremony to debut the new field at the Pat Cunningham stadium.

The new field is being supported in large part by a $400,000 donation by the Braddock Road Youth Club (BRYC).

As shown in the photo above, Dane Merkel, president of BRYC, recently presented a check for $400,000 to Lee Ann Pender, director of facilities planning for Fairfax County Public Schools, to support construction of two new synthetic turf fields for Woodson.

In the past, BRYC has contributed over $1.2 million toward synthetic fields and equipment at Woodson High School, Robinson Secondary School, and Wakefield Park in Annandale.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Pat Cunningham stadium field will take place at 7:15 p.m. this Friday.
