School Closing, Delay Decision From Fairfax County

Snow isn't forecasted until after school starts, but will it be enough to close schools Tuesday? Here's where to find out.

Fairfax County Public Schools will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014.

Tuesday's weather forecast in Fairfax calls for snow and temperatures falling into the teens.

The message from FCPS:

All Fairfax County public schools will be closed on Tuesday, January 21, 2014. Offices will be open with an unscheduled leave policy in effect. 

The following activities in schools and on school grounds are canceled:
  • extracurricular activities
  • interscholastic contests
  • team practices
  • field trips
  • middle school after-school programs 
  • professional learning and training courses 
  • all adult and community education classes
  • recreation programs and community use by outside groups not affiliated with FCPS
School Age Child Care (SACC) centers are closed.

If everyone wasn't 't ready to sue the schools would stay open T Ailshire... Do you want your. 5 yr old on a stuck bus? Or worse. Hit by some idiot in a hurry to go buy toilet paper ? Get a life!

Such hostility! Schools teach you that? Maybe it's good we close for every little whisper. FYI - my children have passed school age.

School taught me grammar. Schooling taught me the value of tax dollars, the value of education, the ability to adapt responses to actual circumstances, and to think. Which is apparently more than some got.
