West Springfield High School Places First at National Technology Student Conference

The West Springfield High School team also placed in the Manufacturing Prototype category for high school students at the annual conference.

A team of students from West Springfield High School placed first in the Biotechnology Design category and sixth place in Manufacturing Prototype category for high school students at the 2013 National Technology Student Association (TSA) Conference last week.

According to a news release from Fairfax County Public Schools, West Springfield was one of five schools from Fairfax County to wind awards at the annual event, which was held in Orlando.

Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJHSST) won sixth place in the Technology Bowl. Frost Middle School in Fairfax took first place in Agriculture and Biotechnology Design, Environmental Focus, and Medical Technology Issues for middle school students.

More than 300 middle and high school students from across the country participated in the conference, which included more than 60 events related to  Engineering a Secure Cyberspace, relating to STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) concepts.
