White Oaks Elementary Archealogical Dig

Project provided students opportunity to learn about the nature of cultures.

fifth grade Advanced Academic Programs classes participated in an archaeological excavation (dig) on the school grounds.

"The excavation gave the students an opportunity to reconstruct and analyze the nature of cultures, their way of life," said fifth grade teacher Margaret Higginbotham.

One class created hand-made artifacts to be buried while the other class unearthed the mystery. Each excavation team had a crew chief, diggers, measures, recorders, screeners, washer-baggers, and a photographer.
