WSHS Names New Head Baseball Coach

Jason Olms earned All-District, All-Region honors as a third baseman during his senior season at West Springfield.

Jason Olms has been named new head baseball coach at , according to Andy Muir, director of student activities.

Olms is a product of West Springfield Elementary and .  He graduated from West Springfield High School in 1994, where as a senior he earned All-District, All-Region honors as a third baseman for Coach Ron Tugwell.  

Olms received an academic scholarship to Principia College.  He received First Team All-Conference Honors at shortstop for three consecutive years, and was named team captain his senior season.

After graduating in 1998, Olms was offered a professional contract to play shortstop for the Strausberg Sun Warriors of the German Bundesliga.  He was a professional player/coach in Germany and Austria for five seasons.

In 2004 he was hired as assistant coach at West Springfield.  He became associate head coach in 2006, where he worked with then head coach John James when West Springfield won the 2010 Virginia AAA State Championships.
