Burke Area Walking Club Medals at Senior Olympics

Members walk together every Thursday in Burke.

Members of the Burke Area Walking Club medaled in race walking events at the Northern Virginia Senior Olympics.

Jerome Jackson won the gold in the 4800 meter (3 mile) walking event.

Jerry Cantor won the gold for the 400 meter (1/4 mile) race walk, the silver for
the 800 meter (1/2 mile) race, and the silver for the 1600 meter (1 mile) event.

Dee Hester race walked the 4800 meter (3 mile) with a record breaking finish,
improving her time.

Race walker participants at the Senior Olympics included all ages from 50 to 89
years old. The meet included race walking and running events.

The Burke Area Walking Club consists of seniors (men and women) who enjoy
walking, staying healthy and seeking friendship. The group meets in the
parking lot in front of the Potomac River Running Store at 5715 Burke
Centre Parkway every Thursday at 8 a.m.

The free club is sponsored by the Burke/West Springfield Senior
