Burke-Area Student-Athletes Receive 2013 All-Met Honors
More than 25 student-athletes from Lake Braddock and Robinson Secondary Schools and West Springfield High School were named all-met or received honorable mentions.
Several student-athletes from Lake Braddock Secondary School, Robinson Secondary School and West Springfield High School were named 2013 Fall All-Mets by the Washington Post.
Two students received top honors, including Lake Braddock quarterback Caleb Henderson, who was named "Player of the Year" for football - offense, and West Springfield senior Caroline Alcorta, who was named "Athlete of the Year" for girls' cross country.
Henderson was selected because of his "dual-threat ability to turn the Bruins into one of the area's most prolific offenses"and his accomplishments on the field such as "throwing for 2,159 yards and 20 touchdowns and rushed for 964 yards and 18 more touchdowns, according to the Post.
Alcorta, a three-time cross-country All-Met, won the Foot Locker South race in Charlotte, NC with a time of 16:55 and won the Virginia 6A state championship with a time of 17:13, according to the Post.
