Lakers Swim Team Division 16 Champs

After three win-less seasons, the Lake Braddock Lakers win big.

The Lake Braddock Lakers swim team broke its three year loosing streak this summer.  Under new head coach Josh Lawson, the young athletes won the Northern Virginia Swimming League (NVSL) Division 16 Relay Meet and tied for Division Champions.

"The Lakers have not won a divisional championship since 2003, and the last time they won Divisional Relays was in 2006," said Susan Glosby, a spokesperson for the team.

"For the last three seasons they have never won a swim meet, but they continued to work hard and support each other as a team," said Glosby.  "Josh is a recent college graduate and a previous swim team member," she said. "He brought this team together in an amazing way, bringing out the best in each and every member."

"Josh and his coaching staff truly care about each child on the team, and go out of their way to encourage and help them achieve their potential," said Glosby.

"The Lakers were successful this year because every single swimmer gave it their all every time they hit the water," said team representative Kareen Lawson.  "The Lakers are an amazing group of young athletes who have amazing team spirit and genuinely care about each other."

"We are a true neighborhood swim team; all members of our team live in the Lake Braddock neighborhood, and this really helps build a sense of community among all of our members and their families," said Lawson. "Friendships are created that last well beyond the summer. The Lakers are an amazing group of young athletes who have amazing team spirit and genuinely care about each other."
