Three Robinson Runners Win Region Titles at Saturday's Northern Region Meet

Robinson women place sixth, men seventh in Regional Championship

Robinson High School’s indoor track and field teams turned in solid performances in Saturday’s Northern Region Track and Field Championships. The meet, which featured both the women's and men's teams, was held on the campus of George Mason University.

Three Robinson runners won region titles on a day that saw a total of six Rams qualify for states.

Genamarie McCant placed first in the girls 500-meter, Joey Muzzio placed first in the boys high jump and Ayo Raymond placed first in the boys 55-meter hurdles. All three won region titles for their first-place finishes.

In addition to the three first place finishes, three other Robinson athletes qualified for states in their respective events. Chioma Onyekwere placed third in the girls shot put, Ansel Borhauer placed fourth in the boys 500-meter and Michael Lohr placed third in the boys pole vault.

The Women’s 4x4 relay team (Molly Kulbaski, Lindsey Taitano, Genamarie McCant, Chioma Onyekwere) placed first as well and will compete at states.

On the day, both Robinson teams placed in the top 10 of the final standings. The Robinson women finished sixth overall with 33 points, while the men finished seventh overall with 37 points. 

Robinson coach Mike Kiernan was pleased with his teams’ efforts on the day, remarking, “The kids just put out a tremendous effort. What a great team effort to be able to walk out with three individual titles and a relay title as well.”

The Robinson athletes who advanced to states will compete next Friday in Hampton.
