'Best of Braddock' Nominations Due

An news update for the Braddock District and Fairfax County from Supervisor John Cook.

Nominations for the Best of Braddock due May 28

With the Best of Braddock Awards, the Braddock District Council (BDC) and the Braddock Supervisor come together to celebrate the outstanding people who live and work in the Braddock District. This is a wonderful way to recognize the good things that your friends and neighbors are doing which may otherwise go un-noticed. It's also a great way to say to the businesses in our community that they are valued, and it's a way to show appreciation to those who contribute to the beauty of the community.   

The awards will be presented at the July 11 at the BDC Picnic.  Nominations will be accepted until May 28, and can be submitted by anyone who thinks someone they know in Braddock District deserves recognition in one of the following categories:

  • Braddock District Citizen of the Year
  • Braddock District Young Person of the Year
  • Neighborhood Enhancement or Beautification in the Braddock District: Individual Homeowner or Association
  • Commercial Beautification or Improvement in the Braddock District:  Landscaping, Building Appearance, Clean-Up or Other
  • Most "Can-Do" Public Employee Working on Issues in the Braddock District:  Federal, State, Local
  • Most Outstanding Business or Business Person in the Braddock District
  • Club or Organization Making a Difference in the Braddock District

June is a very exciting time for many residents in the county who have children graduating from our local schools.

Convocations will be held for academic schools and colleges at on Wednesday, May 16, through Saturday, May 19, 2012. If you would like additional details you may go to George Mason's website here or view the schedule.
