VRE's Santa Express Visits Burke

Operation Lifesaver Santa Train tickets go on sale Monday, November 28, beginning at 9 a.m.

Tickets for the Virginia Railway Express annual Operation Lifesaver Santa Trains go on sale Monday, November 28, at 9 a.m.  VRE said the tickets sell-out within hours.

Tickets for the Burke Centre Santa Trains will be sold at as well as online at the Burke Centre Purchase Tickets/Ticket Status page.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will ride VRE trains on Saturday, December 10, to promote rail safety through Operation Lifesaver’s Look, Listen and Live campaign. Santa’s helpers also will be on board, distributing candy canes and coloring books.

VRE's Burke Centre, Fredericksburg, Manassas, and Woodbridge stations also will serve as drop off sites for the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Campaign.

These are the ticket rules, according to Virginia Railway Express.

  • Tickets for the Santa Trains go on sale Monday, November 28th, at 9 a.m.
  •  Half of the tickets will be sold at local ticket outlets and half will be sold online. See the following station links for specific sales locations and online purchase sites.

        Burke Centre Cupid Express and Elf Express Santa Trains
        Fredericksburg Santa Trains
        Manassas Santa Trains
        Woodbridge Prancer Express Santa Train

  • Tickets are $5 at the outlets and $6 online.
  • Payment at the ticket outlets may be made with cash or check, payable to VRE.
  • Online purchases can be made with credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover) or with a pre-existing PayPal account.
  • All passengers, regardless of age, must have tickets.
  • Regular VRE tickets will NOT be honored for this special event.
  • Tickets will not be sold at the station the day of the event and must be purchased in advance.
  • Tickets cannot be reserved or sold in advance.
  • Tickets are not refundable or exchangeable.
  • Ticket sales are limited to six per person for most trains.
  • For online purchases, anyone attempting to purchase more than six tickets for specific trains will have their ENTIRE ORDER REFUNDED, thus not receiving any tickets. No exceptions.
  • Ticket sale proceeds benefit Operation Lifesaver.
