Little Shop of Horrors at Robinson Secondary, Undefeated Lake Braddock Bruins Head to Playoffs, Elton John Returns

Five things to know in and around Burke this week.

Happy Monday, Burke! There's plenty of local events such as community meetings and football games happening in our area this week.

Here's a look at some local events to look forward to in the next few days.

  1. Veterans Day is today. That means many government offices will be a closed and a few regular services such as the postal service won't be available. You can find a list of what's open and closed here.
  2. The Lake Braddock Secondary School varsity football team is currently undefeated. Playoffs begin on Friday and the Bruins will face the highest seed at home at 7:30 p.m.
  3. Robinson Secondary School's drama department will perform "Little Shop of Horrors," a comedy horror rock musical, by composer Alan Menken and writer Howard Ashman. The three-night show opens on Thursday from 7:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. Residents can catch the show on Thursday, Friday or Saturday night. Tickets are $12 (and can be purchased online) and $15 at the door. Details.
  4. The Braddock District Council of Community Associations will hold their next meeting on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Braddock Hall, which is located in the Kings Park Library, 9000 Burke Lake Rd., in Burke.
  5. Elton John: Elton John returns to DC this week after eight years. He'll play the Verizon Center at 8 p.m. Thursday. More information here.
