Taste of Braddock, Burke Rotary Club to Learn about West Africa, Artist Exhibit

Here are five things to look forward to in Burke this week.

There are less than 30 days left until 2014 and there are still plenty of things going on in the Burke-area through the end of the holiday season.

Here's a look at the week ahead.

  1. Taste of Braddock: Braddock District Supervisor John Cook will host his annual Taste of Braddock Holiday Open house on Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Braddock Hall, which is located in the Kings Park Library, 9002 Burke Lake Road. There will be food and beverages provided by local restaurants.
  2. Holiday ShoppingToday is Cyber Monday! If you missed out on support your local Burke businesses on Small Business Saturday, you can still save on your holiday purchases by shopping online. 
  3. Artist-Teacher Exhibition: More than 40 Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) teachers, including four from Burke-area schools, will have their artwork on display at the Workhouse Arts Center Vulcan Gallery, located at 9601 Ox Rd., in Lorton, beginning Wednesday for the sixth annual FCPS Artist Teacher Exhibition. Details.
  4. West Africa Comes to Burke Rotary: The Rotary Club of Burke will host a breakfast meeting from 7:30-8:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Brion's Grille, located at 123 and Braddock Rd. Rotarian Jim Rowland will be sharing his adventures in West Africa. The event is open to the public and costs $11 to attend.   5. Board Meeting: The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors will meet on Tuesday for their final meeting of the year. The board meets in the Board Auditorium in the Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway in Fairfax. View the full meeting agenda here.
