Week Ahead: Stop Hunger Now Event, High School Football, West Springfield High Choir Concert

Five things to look forward to in Burke this week.

Happy Monday, Burke! Here's a look at some upcoming events and activities in the area this week.


  1. Knollwood Community Church will host a Stop Hunger Now event Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Bonnie Brae Elementary School, which is located at 5420 Sideburn Rd. in Fairfax. The church is seeking volunteers to help pack meals for distribution. Interested volunteers are asked to register online. The church will pack 50,000 dehydrated meals in 2.5 hours. Details here.
  2. The West Springfield High School Spartans varsity football team will play the Annandale High School Atoms Friday at 7:30 p.m. at home. West Springfield High is located at 6100 Rolling Rd. in Springfield.
  3. There will be a West Springfield High School choir and orchestra concert Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Holy Spirit Church in Annandale, which is located at 5121 Woodland Way.
  4. The annual Annandale Fall Festival and Parade is Saturday, Oct. 26 in nearby Annandale. The parade starts at 10 a.m. The festival lasts from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Details here.
  5. The Burke Farmers Market is on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the 
    VRE parking Lot, located at 5671 Roberts Parkway.
