Earth Day Celebration 
Celebrate Earth Day by learning about the changing environment at Ellanor C. Lawrence Park, composting and other green practices. Drawing can be an important part of keeping a nature journal. Join a park naturalist in our outdoor classroom at Huntley Meadows Park from 10 to 11:30 a.m. to learn tips and techniques for adding sketches to your observations. The cost is $6 per person. Campfire with Stories and Songs  
Cozy up to the campfire at Huntley Meadows from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. and join the naturalist for a traditional sing-a-long. Listen to American Indian stories of how some animals came to be and enjoy s’mores. The cost is $6. Register online. For information, call 703-768-2525.

Bluebells at the Bend Festival 
Bring the whole family to Riverbend Park for a day of springtime fun. Spring awakens at the park when the Virginia bluebells are blooming. These native wildflowers carpet the forests, putting on a spectacular display. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and features wagon rides, face painting, wildflower walks, live animals, music and moon bounce. The cost is $5 per person; age two and under are free. Succulent Plant Care and Propagation  
Learn about succulent plant types, which are hardy or tender for our growing area, how to care for and propagate them and get some creative container ideas for growing your collection. Tasting Party: Umami Means 'Delicious'  
An official program of the 2014 National Cherry Blossom Festival Sweet, sour, bitter, salty and umami. Celebrate the National Cherry Blossom Festival with the fifth taste that’s fundamental to Japanese cuisine. Explore the savory taste of umami, its history, health benefits, and the taste research science behind it from 10 a.m. to noon at Historic Green Spring. Workshop: Leaf-Stenciled Dyed Eggs

Spring Wildflower Walk 
Join naturalist Clara Ailes for a leisurely walk in the Pohick Creek Stream Valley to see the display of spring beauties, trout lilies, wild ginger and other early spring wildflowers.
