Winning games, appearances on sportscasts, and ranking teams

After Robinson's fantastic 10-7 win over until-then undefeated Lake Braddock the week before, the team faced an inglorious 24-14 defeat at Chantilly's hands on Friday, as they overtook the Rams after an early lead. West Springfield has its share of political alumni in the area

Tuesdays, we'll be looking at people living in and around Burke and all the incredible things they do. Today, let's look at the elected officials in Fairfax County that went to West Springfield High School back when they were teenagers. 1. Supervisor Pat Herrity, a 1978 graduate of West Springfield, is currently serving the Springfield district he grew up in as the elected Supervisor of the area since he was elected in November 2007. Velasquez holds three separate rankings: Senior running back/defensive back Jared Velasquez of Robinson (6', 185 lbs) is tied for 4th in touchdowns, with 12. He's also 10th in rushing attempts with 97, and 23rd in rushing yards with 576 in five games, good for 5.9 yards per carry. 2. Bruins alumni have gained several Olympic appearances in the last 20 years

Tuesdays, we'll be looking at people living in and around Burke and all the incredible things they do. We'll start with a list of five Olympians who attended Lake Braddock Secondary School. 1. Mia Hamm: This 1989 graduate may have only attended Lake Braddock for a year, but during that time, she helped the women's soccer team win the Virginia state championship. She went on to become the youngest American woman to ever win a World Cup championship at age 19. She won a gold medal at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, where she was also selected by Team USA to carry the American flag in the closing …
