South Run RECenter 4th Annual Arts & Crafts Show

Saturday, October 22, 9 to 4 and Sunday, October 23, 11 to 4.

The South Run RECenter 4th Annual Arts & Crafts Show features juried artisans offering original handmade arts and crafts. Members of the Northern Virginia Handcrafters Guild are participating. Items for sale include decorative painting, fused glass, stained glass, ceramics, pottery, hand-painted silk, etched glass, woodworking, handweaving, photography, pencil sketching, wearables, jewelry, and more. South Run RECenter, 7550 Reservation Drive, Springfield, VA Saturday, October 22: 9am-4pm Sunday, October 23: 11am-4pm Admission $3 Free Parking

Burke Artist in Handcrafters Guild Showcase

Gene Villiva creates silver-plated belt buckles and ornaments of historic places.

Burke resident Gene Villiva, a member of the Northern Virginia Handcrafters Guild, creates unique silver-plated Christmas ornaments and belt buckles depicting historic buildings, monuments and sites including the White House, the Virginia Capitol, and Monticello. The ornaments are stamped in heavy brass, then plated with silver. Villiva's work is featured at the second Annual NVHG Fall Arts and Crafts Showcase this weekend at Ernst Cultural Center on the Annandale campus of Northern Virginia Community College. Guild member Howard Serig said the showcase provides access to quality art.  "This is a unique opportunity for people to see real quality items that are produced by artisans that are juried, as opposed to the buy-and-sell type …
