West Potomac plans to play disciplined defense in Wolverines vs. Bruins matchup, coach says.
West Potomac High School's football team will play against Lake Braddock Secondary School at 7:30 p.m. Friday at West Potomac, located at 6500 Quander Road. West Potomac head coach Jeremiah Davis said the team is planning to change up the pace as they prepare to "face a heavy team for the first time this season." Lake Braddock's Caleb Henderson (who formerly played for West Potomac) is a strong quarterback, Davis said, adding that Lake Braddock has a pretty good running game as well, he noted. West Potomac's emphasis for this week's game is to play disciplined defense and on offense, make use of every athlete, Davis said. As usual, West Potomac's special teams will also play a vital role in the game. Like many coaches, Lake Braddock head …

Quigly Twins Shine in lopsided victory.
Despite a slow start on a cold November night in Vienna, the Lake Braddock Bruins caught fire in the second half en route to a 50-21 victory over the Oakton Cougars. Quarterback Tyler Quigly was nothing short of spectacular, completing 29-44 passes for 384 yards and six touchdowns. Four of those touchdowns went to his twin brother Tanner, who finished with 188 yards on 10 receptions. Equally impressive was the tenacious Bruin defense, which created five turnovers and forced nice three-and-outs keep a very good Oakton offense out of contention. The teams, and their boisterous pep bands, battled back and forth in the first quarter, and although the Bruin offense was able to move the ball from the opening drive, stalled drives and two costly…

Patrick Baker rushes for 145 yards in victory, Rams grab second victory of the season
Payback is sweet. Payback against a bitter rival is even sweeter. Robinson waited 11 months to repay Lake Braddock for dispatching them from the playoffs last November, in a hard fought 24-23 losing effort. Friday evening was their chance. Robinson hosted Lake Braddock in Friday night football action. The Rams avenged last year’s postseason loss and defeated crosstown rival Lake Braddock 24-7, giving the team their second win of the season. “It feels great. We started off 1-5 and it could have been easy for them to hang their heads. Braddock is a good football team,” said first-year Robinson head coach Trey Taylor. “We’re on our third quarterback this season and made some changes on offense. These kids are resilient and they want to win. …

Everyone is entitiled to their own opinion, including Hank Williams, Jr. It's the Networks choice to …   more ›
