A dog was rescued from a townhouse fire in Burke on Monday by Fairfax County firefighters. According to a news release from the Fairfax County Fire Department, fire units responded at 7 a.m. to a fire on the 5565 block of MacDuff Court. Upon arrival, firefighters "encountered heavy smoke coming from the rear of the middle unit townhouse" and "conducted an interior fire attack in an upstairs rear bedroom" to bring the fire under control, the release states. All occupants of the home were able to exit the home due to smoke alarms providing early warning. Two adults have been displaced following an accidental house fire on Jenna Court in Springfield last Saturday. According to a news release from the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, units responded to a house fire at 9300 Jenna Court at approximately 1:45 a.m. on March 23. When they arrived at the two-story, single-family home, firefighters saw "heavy smoke and fire coming from the garage and the attic". Six adults have been displaced by a house fire in the 9000 block of Braddock Road near the Twinbrook Shopping Center in Fairfax north of Burke. According to a news release from the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, firefighters responded to the house fire Sunday at approximately 12:15 p.m. Upon arrival at the two-story, single-family home, firefighters encountered heavy, dark smoke and fire from the left side of the home near the carport area. The house fire in West Springfield last Thursday has been ruled accidental by Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department investigators. According to a news release from the department, an electrical power strip in the garage caused the fire at 8134 Carr Place. Units responded to the single-family house fire at approximately 9:50 a.m. Upon arrival, the release states firefighters encountered smoke and heavy fire coming from the attached garage and fire through the roof of the ranch style home. Fairfax County Fire and Rescue units responded to a house fire at 8134 Carr Place in Springfield Thursday morning. There were no civilian or personnel injuries. According to Capt. William Moreland of the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, units arrived on scene at approximately 10 a.m. to find heavy flames coming from the garage area of the home. There was some extension into the main part of the home, but firefighters were able to attack the fire and get it under control before it could spread further. Three adults and two animals have been displaced. It is not yet known how much damage was done to the home or if the owners have accepted Red Cross assistance. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Firefighters were called to the two-story home at approximately 5:50 a.m., according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue, in a news release. No one was home when the fire started.
A two-alarm fire that destroyed a townhouse Thursday off of Roberts Road in Fairfax has sent one Fairfax County firefighter to the hospital with minor burns. At around 1:30 p.m., Fairfax County Fire and Rescue were called to the 5400 block of Cheshire Meadows Way in Fairfax, and found the front and back of a townhouse engulfed in flames. Firefighters had the fire under control within 10 minutes. "No one was home at the time of the incident," said Capt. William Moreland of the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department. The fire appears to have started in the basement and investigators are on the scene to determine the cause. It is not clear how many people were displaced because of the blaze, or if neighboring homes were damaged.

According to a press release from the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, firefighters responded to a fire at a single family home located at 7408 Willshire Hunt Ct., at approximately 6:10 p.m. Firefighters reported smoke coming from the basement upon arrival and found the fire in a room in the basement near an electrical panel. Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department responded to a small fire outside of a Springfield home.
Neighbors called and reported a fire outside of a home in the 7000 block of Chatham Street around 11:15 a.m. Sunday. Firefighters arrived on scene to find a small fire outside of an extension of the home and were able to control and extinguish the fire within 20 minutes, said Captain William Moreland. The fire didn't reach the major part of the house. The family was home at the time of the incident and was evacuated. There were no injuries reported due to the fire. The fire department is investigating the incident.
