Celebrate IHOP National Pancake Day Tuesday

Free pancakes at the Burke International House of Pancakes.

Expect lines and crowds at the International House of Pancakes (IHOP) Tuesday, Feb. 5, as customers line up for a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes. IHOP started National Pancake Day in 2006, asking customers to help local charities when they come in for free pancakes. In the DC, MD and VA market, the beneficiary is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Last year the 72 IHOPs in this region raised $185,000 for LLS, and in 2013 hope to exceed that amount with a goal of $220,000. Since 2006, the restaurant chain has raised more than $10 million to support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and other local charities, the company has reported. Burke IHOP Opening Soon

Owner is awaiting final county approvals.

The grand opening of Burke's IHOP restaurant will occur without any fanfare.  "Running a 24/7 restaurant can be really trying at times," said Bo Wilhelm, owner of the IHOP soon to open in Rolling Valley Mall. "Therefore, I open my restaurants quietly on a weeknight, and there's enough buzz generated by the weekend that they're full," he said. Wilhelm said he hopes to open the Burke restaurant in the evening on Tuesday, May 1, pending completion of the remaining county inspections.  It could be sooner or later, but one thing is for sure — it will be quiet. National Pancake Day Tuesday at IHOP

Free pancakes in exchange for donations to charity.

Pancake lovers, rejoice! Local IHOP restaurants are serving free pancakes Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. as part of National Pancake Day. Participating IHOP restaurants hope the free buttermilk short stacks will prompt customers to leave a donation for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals© and other designated local charities. IHOP locations nearest Burke include: An IHOP is planned for Rolling Valley Mall in Burke later this year. IHOP said since beginning its National Pancake Day celebration in 2006, the restaurant has raised nearly $8 million to support charities in the communities in which it operates.

IHOP Comes to Burke

Company has signed a lease for space in Rolling Valley Mall.

IHOP Restaurant has signed a lease for space in Rolling Valley Mall, according to Stephanie Friedman of Combined Properties, the commercial real estate company managing the shopping center.  The restaurant is scheduled to open during the second quarter of 2012, in the now vacant storefront next to Burger King. Combined Properties also finalized a lease with Onelife Fitness.  The club's phased opening begins in early February, with a sales center next to Shoppers Food Warehouse. The exact date is still pending. Combined Properties developed Rolling Valley Mall in 1974.  The current tenants include:
