Paul Ryan of Wisconsin faced off Thursday night in a heated debate that covered foreign wars, tax reform, healthcare, abortion, and their shared faith in the Catholic Church. During the debate, broadcast live from Centre College in Danville, Ky., Biden flexed his experience with foreign policy when answering questions about ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, nuclear arms in Iran and whether to send troops to Syria. “The last thing America needs is to get in a ground war in the Middle East,” Biden said. Ryan called the Obama administration’s foreign policy “chaotic,” criticizing the lack of security present during the September attack on the consulate in Benghazi, Libya, …

Local image consultant weighs in on how Vice President Joe Biden and Congressman Paul Ryan should present themselves in the vice presidential debate Thursday, Oct. 11.
Vice President Joe Biden and Republican candidate Congressman Paul Ryan will take the stage at Thursday night’s vice presidential debate at Centre College in Danville, KY. What does it take for both vice presidential candidates to project confidence during the debates? Northern Virginia image consultant Anne Morgan says both Ryan and Biden need to present themselves as “authoritative, trustworthy, and credible” during Thursday’s debate. Morgan, owner of Color and Image Insight, says the navy suit is the standard for presenting that image to potential voters. “I would say that Al Gore got advice to wear earth tones once upon a time and I’m not sure that was the best advice for his coloring or for his presentation,” Morgan recalled. “…

Democratic Congressman made the statement Tuesday to residents of the Greenspring Retirement Community in Springfield.
Northern Virginia Congressman Gerry Connolly (D-11th) said Tuesday that Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney's recently released comments in a controversial videotape make him "unfit for office." Connolly spoke to about 75 residents of the Greenspring Retirement Community in Springfield during a campaign appearance. Romney's comments, secretly taped without his knowledge, featured a controversial statement in which he said that 47 percent of the electorate do not pay income taxes and are dependent on the government and consequently support President Obama's candidacy. Connolly characterized the statement as "dangerous." "That's very dangerous thinking, and I think that alone suggests Mitt is not fit for that office," said Connolly…
