Accidental Springfield House Fire Displaces Two Adults

There were no injuries. Damages are estimated around $45,000.

Two adults have been displaced following an accidental house fire on Jenna Court in Springfield last Saturday. According to a news release from the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, units responded to a house fire at 9300 Jenna Court at approximately 1:45 a.m. on March 23. When they arrived at the two-story, single-family home, firefighters saw "heavy smoke and fire coming from the garage and the attic". The fire was extinguished quickly and the two adults, who were home at the time of the fire, were able to escape unharmed. The release states that a family pet alerted the occupants to the fire. Vacant West Springfield Townhouse Damaged By Fire

The fire department has ruled the Wednesday fire as accidental.

An accidental fire Wednesday at a vacant townhouse in West Springfield has caused around $100,000 in damage, according to a news release from the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department. Firefighters responded to a fire at 8733 Sheridan Farms Ct., at approximately 6:50 a.m. and found heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear and roof of the unfurnished, three-story townhouse. It took firefighters 15 minutes to get the fire under control. The release states the fire was caused by an electrical wiring anomaly in the attic. There were no civilian or fire personnel injuries. West Springfield House Fire Damages Estimated at $150,000

Firefighters responded to a house fire on Davis Field Lane in the Pohick community Wednesday night.

A gas-fed fire caused an estimated $150,000 in damages to a two-story home on Davis Field Lane in the Pohick community Wednesday night, according to a recent news release. Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to the call Wednesday around 7:50 p.m. Firefighters encountered smoke and fire coming from the left and rear sides of the two-story home upon arrival and immediately conducted fire attacks to bring the fire under control within 20 minutes. Neighbors, including Linda Nolte, called 911 at about 7:45 p.m.: "I heard a boom," she said. "I came outside and saw a line of fire along the side of the house. Beaver Chases Children at Hidden Pond Nature Center

Incident takes place week after rabid beaver attacked swimmer in Lake Barcroft.

One week after an 83-year-old woman was attacked by a beaver in Lake Barcroft in Falls Church comes a report that a beaver was chasing children Saturday at the Hidden Pond Nature Center in West Springfield. County Animal Control officers responded to the report that the animal was chasing the children Saturday at about 11:30 a.m., according to a news release from Fairfax County Police. The children who were chased had just finished competing in a fishing contest when they noticed a beaver in the water swimming toward the dock they were standing on, according to the release.
