Police: 15th Incident in Assault Series Reported

Fairfax County Police say groping incident may be the work of a copycat.

UPDATE (Jan. 14, 10:33 a.m.) According to FCPD, detectives investigating the series of assault believe the recent incident is the same suspect involved in 14 assaults previously reported in the Springfield area. --- A groping incident that occurred around 5:45 p.m. Thursday may be the work of a copycat, according to the Public Information Office. According to FCPD, a 30-year-old woman was jogging in the 3300 block of Briarwood Court when a man grabbed her, reported WUSA. She screamed and the man ran away. The suspect is described as either a white or Hispanic male between the ages of 25 and 30 years old and about 5'7". Police Receive 14th Report in Series of Sexual Assaults

Another woman reported being groped near Hibbling Avenue.

Police said Friday morning they received a report of a 14th victim in a series of sexual assaults that have been happening in the Springfield area, according to an FCPD news release. A 43-year-old woman was walking in the 6000 block of Hibbling Avenue around 5:45 p.m. Thursday when a man grabbed her from behind and touched her. The victim said she turned and yelled at the suspect and he fled. She described the suspect as being between 20 and 30 years old and wearing a black jacket and black pants. Police are currently investigating the series of events that have been happening since September. Police: Possible 13th Victim Attacked by Serial Groper

A woman was reportedly groped Thursday in Franconia.

A 23-year-old woman was reportedly groped Thursday while walking on Floyd Avenue near Erving Street in the Franconia area of Fairfax County. Fairfax County Police Department Public Information Officer Bud Walker confirmed that police are investigating the incident, which occured around 9 a.m., and believe that the report is the 13th incident in a series of assaults in the county. The suspect is described as a six-foot Hispanic male with a close-cut beard wearing faded green pants, a black knit cap, a green jacket. This is the second reported groping incident this week. Police: 12th Victim in Series of Sexual Assaults

Woman reports being grabbed and groped Tuesday in Springfield, Fairfax County Police say.

A 49-year-old woman reported she was grabbed and groped Tuesday around 10:30 a.m. on Blarney Stone Drive in the Springfield area. The woman reported being grabbed from behind on the road before the suspect assaulted her, according to Fairfax County Police. The department's public information office said the woman is the 12th victim in a series of sexual assaults they believe are related. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male between the ages of 25 and 30 and about 5-foot-6 inches tall. He was wearing a red hat, black jacket and blue skinny jeans at the time of the incident. I am in that neighborhood in springfield several days a week and let me tell you, I see women walking in the neighborhood with earphones on. I am always looking, watching, to see if anything is amiss. I cant help but wonder though why these women would walk around with earphones on, totally unaware of their surroundings.
