Six years ago, I heard about a volunteer program that trained every day citizens to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children under the court’ protection. As a mother of three and an attorney, I jumped at the chance to help children in such a profound way. Thus began my journey with Fairfax Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA)My experience as a CASA volunteer for eight brothers and sisters inspired me to work for Fairfax CASA, which I now lead as Executive Director. In this blog I share with you my observations about the power of every day citizens to help our community’s most vulnerable children.

Fairfax CASA trains volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children brought under the protection of the Fairfax County juvenile court. The CASA volunteer is often the one consisten adult in these children's lives, helping protect their fundamental right to grow up in a safe and permanent home.
