Over the years, I have learned and continue to learn a lot about marriage, divorce, and parenting. As a parent (married, then divorced, and then, years later, remarried), step-parent, friend, counselor, and mediator, I have extensive experience with the emotional, financial, and legal aspects of family distress, separation, and divorce, and what happens later. Now I am a Professional Family Mediator certified by the Supreme Court of Virginia, with years of professional experience in research, teaching, counseling, and family mediation. I have also seen and experienced what a good marriage is like, with mutual love and respect and skills for resolving conflicts constructively. I earned a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from the U.Va. I have written one book, Human Attachment.
