More than 200 Burke homes are currently without power after a car hit a Dominion Virginia Power transformer near Burke Centre Parkway and Cove Landing Road Tuesday.

The power outage occurred just after 3:30 p.m. An estimated 235 homes are without power, according to Charles Penn, manager of media and community relationships with Dominion Virginia Power.

The public information office of the Fairfax County Police Department confirmed officers were dispatched around 3:27 p.m. in response to a vehicle accident at Burke Centre Parkway and Cove Landing Road. The condition of the driver and cause of the accident is currently unknown.

Penn said Dominion trucks are working on restoring power to the area, but did not indicate a restoration time. Due to the extent of repairs needed to fix the transformer, Penn estimates crews will work on getting power back on "well into Tuesday evening".
