Run for the Children a Family Affair

Fairfax CASA's April 28 Run for the Children was a true family affair. View the "family album" here!

Fairfax Court Appointed Special Advocates’ was a true family affair.

On Saturday, April 28, parents, grandparents, and children of all ages gathered at the Fairfax County Government Judicial Center to walk or run in support of volunteers and their dedication to serving the best interests of over 500 abused and neglected children each year.

Enjoy this “family album” of race day photos and stay tuned for more photos of the event in the weeks to come.

What was it like on race day? Running blogger Jessica Hofheimer called the Run for the Children “a really awesome race.” Read her full account of the course and the festivities here.

Or visit the Run for the Children website to access the race results.

Fairfax CASA would like to thank the many sponsors who made this year's event possible. Special thanks to Verizon, our Champion Partner, and to Gold and Silver Sponsors Lincoln Property Management, Visnic Homes, and CSC.

Thanks to the organizers and the runners for supporting CASA! A few weeks ago my daughter saw the flyer and shouted "I am a CASA kid." And this Saturday, on my way to taking her to a play rehearsal at Acting for Young People, we passed the race and were reminded how far my daughter and her brother have come. Just four years ago, my children were in foster care and without exaggeration their CASA worker saved their lives and along the way saved mine as I am now the adoptive parent of my two incredible CASA kids. So thank you for all the CASA kids!

What a great success story, D. Thank you for caring and for sharing! And, congratulations.
Thank you, D! We at Fairfax CASA are honored to know that the work of a CASA volunteer changed your children's lives -- for good. We don't always have an opportunity to share in the happy endings. You have filled our hearts today - and made us more determined than ever to continue our advocacy on behalf of every child who needs a loving and permanent family.
